There had to be a better way.
After returning from a family trip through Raleigh-Durham International Airport, Tauheed “Ty” Wood faced a $250 parking bill and a tired drive back to Fayetteville. That experience turned into a question: why wasn’t there a straightforward, affordable transportation option connecting the community with RDU?
Ty spent the next three days applying the mission-planning discipline he learned in the Army to the problem. He mapped the service, the business, and the customer experience. In 2024, Shuttle Buddy launched with a single bus.
Meet our founder
Tauheed “Ty” Wood
Ty served 14 years in the United States Army. He began as a signal operations support specialist before becoming a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot and later an AH-64 Apache pilot and Army warrant officer.
His service included two deployments to Afghanistan. He completed his military career in 2023 as a chief warrant officer three and received the Air Medal with Valor for his actions during combat operations.
The same preparation, accountability, and commitment that guided every Army mission now guide how Shuttle Buddy serves every passenger.
